The Cochrane-based Polar Bear Riders Snowmobile Club is being proactive, announcing that all of its trails will be closed between Thursday night and Sunday night.
The weather forecast is for temperatures well above freezing, and for rain. Riding the trails in those conditions could cause irreparable damage and prevent reopening this season.
The club expects to have groomers out early next week, once the weather has cooled back down.
It says the advance warning is to allow snowmobilers to get back into town before the trails close.
