The backbone of our regional economy will be jeopardized, if and when the 25% U.S. tariffs are imposed.
So says Tom Faught Jr., president of the Timmins Chamber of Commerce, the largest business organization in the District of Cochrane.
In a written statement, he says significant risks will affect the resource sector – mining, forestry and manufacturing.
He adds that the tariffs will lead to higher costs, reduced competitiveness and potential job losses. Small and medium-sized enterprises, he says, are especially vulnerable to supply chain disruptions and the increased cost of goods.
