The annual travelling exhibit of the Northern Ontario Art Association makes a two-week stop in Iroquois Falls beginning on Monday.
Ansonville Art Club member Janet Reid says it’s usually mostly painting, and every piece is an adjudicated winner.
“If you’re a member of a club, you can enter a piece, one piece per person and the show starts travelling in September,” she notes. ”They usually pick up to 40 pieces to go in the show.”
Even if your piece isn’t selected, Reid says you get a valuable critique from the judges.
Reid won’t know until the travelling exhibit arrives whose art is included among the 40 pieces, and whether they’re from around our area. She does say, however, that last year, IFSS vice-principal Chris Clark was featured as a member of the Porcupine Art Club..
“He does pointillism,” says Reid. “I don’t know if he does other stuff, but that’s what he entered last year. It’s all made from tiny little dots.”
The show opens Monday at 7:00pm in the student success room at IFSS – the former school library. It’s then open weekdays until Friday, February 14th between 3:00pm 5:00pm, and 7:00pm until 9:00pm.
