Iroquois Falls is getting a new doctor this summer.
Physician recruiter Abigail Brennan met Dr. Andres Breceda in Montreal in October. She says he, his wife and son toured Iroquois Falls in late November, and he confirmed his commitment towards the end of 2024.
“After finishing up some logistics,” she says, “we were able to announce his successful commitment just this week, which was very exciting.”
Dr. Breceda will work with the Iroquois Falls Family Health Team and take his turn covering the emergency department at Anson General Hospital. He will bring his wife Maggie and son Max to Iroquois Falls with him.
“We look forward to having his son play on our local hockey teams and have his wife involved in some of our recreational level things,” Brennan states. “She has a particular interest in Pilates and yoga and things like that. So we’re hoping to be able to engage her in some local programming as well.”
Dr. Breceda’s arrival will make it four physicians in the family health team. Five is considered a full complement. That’s the same for Cochrane, which currently has only two.
