The new Junior A hockey team in Iroquois Falls – the Storm — now has a logo.
The submission by Jesse Cybolsky features a tribute to old Eskis teams with its eyes. And Cybolsky says he wanted to stay away from a twister that shows up in many designs about a storm.
“I have never seen a twister up here in my entire life, so I kind of wanted to go for like the cloud,” he notes. “So the whole silhouette is a cloud, and then I kind of envisioned a warrior standing in the midst of a screaming cloud or a screaming storm.”
It’s fitting that his logo was selected, when Cybolsky tells you he was part of the Boost our Igloo campaign to bring Junior hockey back to the Falls, and designed its logo, in fact. He’s a professional graphic designer, but did the Storm logo for free.
“I wanted to have my name attached to the logo. It’s kind of a little bit of a prestigious thing to get selected.”
Cybolsky says he’s excited for his kids to see the logo on Storm jerseys and elsewhere, and say “Hey, Dad did that!”
