The return of postal banking will be a big boost for small and rural communities.
That’s according to Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes, who says postal banking can help rural communities as well as Canada Post grow.
Hughes says the NDP have pushed parliament to create a committee in order to study the idea, saying communities fighting to keep their post offices deserve this.
She says the more services taken from a community, the less reason there is to stay.
Postal banking was debated upon this past week in the House of Commons; a decision regarding the special committee has yet to be made.
