The province sent its Timmins MPP to Timmins and District Hospital on Monday to deliver about $12-million in funding.
George Pirie announced $4,215,100 to support services; $2,811,906 in one-time funding to ease “in-year” budget pressures and $5,949,500 for alternative level of care beds for people awaiting placement in long term care facilities.
Hospital CEO Kate Fyfe says there are three beds at the main hospital and 38 at St. Mary’s Gardens.
“They’re 41 beds that have been put in place to deal with the additional ALC pressures that the hospital’s been experiencing,” she said, then responding to a question saying the money will help pay for it.”
Both Fyfe and Pirie noted that as a district hospital, TADH serves the entire Hwy. 11 corridor and communities on the James Bay Coast.
