Landscaping; auto detailing; home cleaning; selling your crafts. The possibilities are endless for the Summer Company program. It offers help and grants up to $3,000.00 to students between 15 and 29.
The business development consultant at the Business Enterprise Centre in Timmins, Mike Scott, says there are seven slots available between Timmins and the James Bay Coast, and up Hwy.11 to Hearst and Hornepayne.
It allows you to work for yourself and decide if entrepreneurship is a potential career.
“Essentially, it has to be simple enough startup that it can be done in a matter of a month or two,” Scott outlines, “seeing as from the time you apply for the program to the time you actually launch in the summer, it’s pretty short turnaround.”
Scott emphasizes that you won’t be on your own.
“They’re not expected to complete their application or manage their business completely on their own. They’re going to receive ample support from our team throughout the application process and throughout the summer months.”
Information and an application are available from the Business Enterprise Centre.
