Still time to help NOAWS during Pet Valu’s Pet Appreciation Month

There are a few days to go, but the Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society says so far, so good for Pet Appreciation Month.

The Pet Valu store in Cochrane has been selling paper paws and accepting donations. And NOAWS team member Tasha Eddy says there were a lot of applications at a two-day adoption event at the store.

“A few kittens that had pending adoptions got to go home with their families over the weekend,” she says. “One of our pups got to go home with his family for the weekend, and just getting out in the public and people knowing what we’re doing is a big part of these events.”

So far, $2,200 has been raised. The target by the end of the month is $2,400.

“I’m hoping by the end of the week,” Eddy says hopefully, “we can meet that goal for them, because it shows not only support for us, but support for their store as well.”

Last year’s total raised was $1,700 for the activities of NOAWS, finding foster and permanent homes for pets and promoting spaying and neutering.
