Cochrane history: Cook gets published

Food is the foundation of our Cochrane history feature this week.

Thirty years ago this month, two of Phyllis Miller’s ground beef recipes were published in a cookbook compiled by an American publisher with an office in Winnipeg.

The article in the Cochrane Times says Miller’s recipes for tomato-rice meatballs and meatball vegetable soup were chosen.  She was also mentioned in the introduction to the book. It reads “From Phyllis Miller’s Meatball Vegetable Soup to Marilyn Leum’s Golden Secret Meat Loaf, some 300 imaginative recipes will break the monotony in your household, without doing the same to your budget.”

Thank you once again to the Cochrane Public Library for access to its archives.
