A municipal elections audit of Cochrane’s mayor, Peter Politis, has found no infractions with his election expenses. In June a complaint was registered accusing Politis of being in non-compliance with the Municipal Elections Act of Ontario. An audit committee determined there were grounds for an investigation and Politis did not appeal their determination. But after a thorough review, an independent audit firm out of Timmins reported no problems with the mayor’s municipal election expenses. Politis and Cochrane’s town council are waiting to receive official dismissal of the matter from the Compliance Audit Committee.
