A recount has been requested by one of the mayoral candidates.
Peter Politis lost the mayoral race to Denis Clement by five votes on Election Night. Politis says because of the tight race, he is requesting a vote recount. Clement ended the night with 981 votes and Politis was right behind with 976.
This request has to be approved by town council at tomorrow night’s meeting. Politis says if council denies his request, the next option is to apply for a court order.
He adds that he does support the newly elected council and believes the town will be under good leadership regardless of what happens with the recount.
